Butterfly

A butterfly with broken wings
Paints the blue sky as she sings
A tune in tones of loneliness,
Serene and serendipitous.

I see an ocean in her eyes,
The stars before a clear sunrise;
I feel the scent of a summer breeze,
On a sandy shore of reveries.

Would she fly into my arms,
Held captive by a stranger’s charm?
Could she flutter with a smile,
To come and play with me awhile?

Love leaves footprints on a trail
Of tears that cry to no avail;
A stream of petals, floating thoughts:
She loves me, she loves me not ...

Strange Crush

A stranger casts a hidden glance,
A shadow of a smile;
And missing yet another chance
Must bear to wait awhile.

Reflections of a moment past,
Echoes of a sigh;
Memories fade but feelings last,
Still he wonders why?

The lonesome call of love persists
In burning tongues of flame;
Though he may struggle to resist
It scorches just the same.

Well, time will tell its reasons,
As destiny awaits.
Unfolding over seasons
It would never be too late

To muster up the courage
To confront his sense of pride.
For him to say:“I want to hold you
Closely by my side”

Might free his soul of sorrow,
As he sees with hopeful eyes,
The prospect that tomorrow
She might help his spirit rise.

A stranger makes his first advance
To discover what lies in store;
Taking this, his only chance,
In fear lives he no more.

Fool's Enlightenment

Who am I? Who are you?
Where are we from and going to?
What’s the meaning of this game?
Why the fuss? It's all so lame!
Nothing special’s happening here!
Is this some senseless joke? I fear
It won’t last too long at all
Before we all just slip and fall
Away like autumn leaves
Unless some trick is up our sleeves;
If hands are quicker than the eye,
That some secret’s passed me by,
Could I look close enough to see
That the joke is all on me?
There is laughter all around,
Cause my reason is unsound,
I’ve missed the point so far,
The depth of who we are,
The wonder of all things
And the happiness it brings
To look around in awe
At the world without a flaw,
And myself a mystery ...
It's truly great to be
Alive, having seen
What a blind fool I’ve been!
